A neat new article on-line, about the transition from my last
series, Recollections, and the new work on self-image: www.canadianartscene.com
ONE
After much toiling these past many months, I'm excited to announce that
in SEPTEMBER of 2009 I will be exhibiting my current and new
body of work, UNDERNEATH SKIN, at Galerie
Kérozène in Montreal. This new work explores
the intimate contemplations I have in the personal and fundamental struggle
of confronting one's self-image. This project, begun in November of
2007 whilst traveling in Tenerife, Spain, has unimaginably expanded
my perception of, and capacity to accept, myself; it has sparked very
raw, emotional, enriching conversations with many individuals to date
(without ever having shown the work). While I intend to continue this
project for years to come, this September will mark the beginning of
its debut. Fortuitously, the exhibit will coincide with Montreal's
Mois De La Photo (September). For details: (see:

I had the opportunity to throw a few images and words in the art direction
of Kevin Lo, who put together beautifully yet again, and this

Black and White Magazine (Fine Art Photography for Collectors)
in the US has an open international Portfolio competition once a year,
and I was pleased when they informed me that I made their top 15 for
2008. Their special portfolio edition is for June/July 2008, available
in news-stands at the end of May. Six of my images on a 4-page spread
; it's a real treat to be a part of this magazine. TO

ZOOM Magazine (Italy) hass published a
portfolio article about my black and white work, in their

Local Montreal distributor of art images, Caporal
Cartonne, have now gone on-line. It's a pleasure to be
working with them, as one of their artists.
SEVEN
A
few out-takes from the international photography biennial
event Fotonoviembre 2007,
held on the Island of Tenerife, Canary Islands, SPAIN. This 9th edition
of Fotonoviembre
was a one month long circuit of photography exhibitions, in which I
participated with
my series Recollections. I spent 2 weeks on the island, meeting other
artists, climbing
along cliff walls to get to black sandy beaches, practicing to count
in Spanish, and
generally getting lost and found again. There was a lot of quiet and
I mostly wandered
alone, coming across some very beautiful moments in crossing paths with
others
naturally this made its way into some new works I am currently working
on.
